Medical treatments

Based on the agreement between the insured and Generali Insurance Ltd (henceforth: Insurance Company), the insured is entitled to health care as follows.

Within the framework of the outpatient treatment, the insurance company shall pay for:

  • the costs of primary health care services,
  • the costs of specialized health care treatment,
  • the costs of special tests (e.g. laboratory tests, X-ray diagnosis, ultrasound examination); which the insurance company shall only cover if these are necessary for the exploration or treatment of the illness.

Within the framework of inpatient treatment, the insurance company shall pay for the costs incurred from the insured's hospitalization and medical treatment.

The insurance shall not cover:

  • any illness or pathological condition of the insured which has been proven to have existed prior to the effective date of the insurance cover, or any permanent health damage of the insured which has been diagnosed prior to the effective date of the insurance coverage,
  • hospitalization related to pregnancy, child birth,
  • abortion of pregnancy, unless termination of the pregnancy was necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother, or if termination of the pregnancy was performed in a case where pregnancy was the result of a criminal act,
  • prescription of birth control pill and the price of the product,
  • treatments and surgeries exclusively for aesthetic (cosmetic) purposes,
  • eye correction surgeries,
  • dioptric glasses/sunglasses, contact lenses and their accessories,
  • hearing aid,
  • dental treatments, with the exception of acute conditions, cases of emergency and accident consequences,
  • health care services in relation to HIV infection,
  • tests taken and treatments performed in relation to the consumption of alcohol or narcotic drugs,
  • convenience (V.I.P.) health care services (e.g. single bedroom),
  • psychiatric treatment,
  • immunization shots.

The primary health care is provided by te GP of the Universty: 4032 Debrecen, Egyetem tér 1. (located behind the building of the Coordinating Center for International Education). Office hours: Monday- Friday, 8.00- 12.00 and 13.00- 16.00. The insured must first and foremost present him- or herself at the GP’s office (except for cases of emergency) where, if necessary, the insured gets a referral for further specialist examinations. Specialist examinations may only be taken by providing the GP's referral.

 

In cases of emergency, the insured must seek out the Emergency Clinic which is situated at the Emergency and Gastroenterology Building.

 

In case of accidents, medical treatment is provided at Department of Traumatology of Kenézy Hospital (in Hungarian: Kenézy Gyula Campus Traumatológiai Osztálya), address: 4031 Debrecen, Bartók Béla út 2-26. If rescuing/life-saving is necessary (on-the-spot treatment, transportation), the National Ambulance can be called at 112 or 104.
